Doctors have launched a stinging attack upon Government tactics that they say have forced them to extend surgery opening hours.

Many said they felt they had been "railroaded" into accepting the proposals to work extra hours, a British Medical Association poll found.

The BMA found that 97 per cent of GPs said they no longer trust ministers to run the health service.

Debbie Hirst, a woman with metastasized breast cancer, wanted to take Avastin, a drug that, per The New York Times, is "widely used in the United States and Europe to keep such cancers at bay." The NHS refused to pay for it, saying it was too expensive.
